StarCon Analyzer (Beta)
The StarCon Analyzer is designed
for the Strategy Guild's StarCon PBeM
game.
The StarCon Analyzer is a utility that provides a completely
new user interface for playing the play-by-Email game StarCon. StarCon is an awesome game but the game turns that you get by e-mail or
via the web leave much to be desired. This program is your Graphical User
Interface that treats the game turn as raw data and then allows you to view the
data supplied on the turnsheets (old info and new) in one place. It also
includes computer aided mapping and an Order Editor.
The StarCon Analyzer takes the StarCon turns (both yours and your allies) and
processes them so that they are combined together and presented in an Analysis
Window. You can view and manipulate one master turn that combines all known
information that you have accumulated. The StarCon Analyzer keeps track of worlds no longer seen on the current turn sheets and labels what turn
they were seen last.
Various filtering and sorts can be used to manipulate the combined information
to find those important things you want without having to study a printout for
hours. For example, finding the largest bulk stockpile within three worlds of
your home world is done easily.
In addition the Analysis Window contains a Map View which eliminates the need
for paper and pencil and those messy spaghetti maps that plague us in the game. The map supports mouse controlled drag and drop to move worlds around.
It handles wrap-around worlds easily and you can save the map as a text file suitable for e-mailing to an ally. Your ally just plugs the map file
into the StarCon Analyzer program and the same map appears.
The program also sports an editor where you can jot down your plans and
orders as you peruse the data in the StarCon Analyzer. The editor presents a Draft Order sheet where you can put in comments about
orders your write where the comments get stripped out in the Final Order sheet which is in proper form for submission to the Strategy Guild web
site. The editor generates a Template where
incomplete build, unload, art and ship movement/firing orders will appear for you to
complete.
